Madhu M. Mohana
Student of International Management and Sports College. Singaporean professional footballer who plays as a right-back or centre-back for Balestier Khalsa and the Singapore national team.
Balancing professional football and studies at the same time
I had a lot of trouble trying to manage football and schoolwork when I was in polytechnic. I had to travel frequently for competitions, so I missed many classes. Back then, we didn’t have makeup classes. The class sizes are smaller at IMSC, and we can manage and handle the flexible schedule. Even when I had a conflicting football schedule, communication was still easier.
Most Interesting Module
Sports management. As a footballer, I don’t really know what’s going on behind the scene. This module helped me understand the roles of admin staffs and the management side of things.
Using my newly acquired knowledge
The knowledge gained from this course has been enriching in my daily practices. There were lots of application based teachings which I’ve applied in my business models of the 2 businesses I started now.
Support I have received while competing in competitions
Mr Faizal really helped me a lot especially when my training/match clashed with my classes. He was always there to help me when I was in doubt. The lecturers at IMSC are really understanding and they will always go the extra mile to make sure we catch up with the rest if we missed lessons. Most of the lecturers, have sport backgrounds so they really understood us and gave related examples for us to have a clearer understanding of the topics.
Would you recommend the Diploma to other Sporting Athletes?
Yes, I’ve already been recommending them to my fellow athletes. As a footballer, our career will last about 10-20 years. It is really important get ourselves educated so we can continue to progress in the industry. IMSC’s schedule is really flexible and it supports athletes. Therefore it’s a great opportunity for all athletes to further their education while being a sportsmen.
