Course Overview
The course is tailored to prepare international students for admission to Singapore Government Primary Schools. These students must take the Admission Exercise for International Students (AEIS) or the Supplementary AEIS (S-AEIS) exams, administered by the Singapore Ministry of Education annually in September/October and February, respectively. Successful candidates in these exams will be placed in a government school by the Ministry of Education.
Course Objectives
The objective of the IMSC Preparatory Course for Admission to Government Schools (Primary 3) is to prepare international students for admissions into the Singapore Government Primary schools. This course will also offer advanced teaching that will prepare students to meet the requirements of the Primary 3 English Curriculum under Singapore’s English Language Syllabus 2020 for Primary Level.
Key Features
- Assist students to score at least a 5.5 in all 4 sections of the IELTS Examination
- Expose to higher order essay questions – expository and discussion-based questions
- Comprehensive – covers all skills required to score in all IELTS examinations
Course Structure & Duration
- 6 Months (360 hours) – Full-Time
- 5 days per week x 3 hours per day (Monday to Friday)
* All 360 hours of the course is expected to be taught by the instructor, either via in person teaching, or taught via online delivery platforms such as Zoom.
Any additional reading time, or self study time that the student may spend reading the online materials to be provided via the learning management system (such as authorized textbooks and articles) will not be considered as part of the course duration.

Applicant must meet the following requirements to enroll into the course:
Age
- At least 8 years old as of 1st January of the year of admission
English Language Proficiency
- Pass year 2 English in the student’s home country, or
- Obtain a score of 120 or more under the A2 Key for Schools under the Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) test run by Cambridge Assessment English (CAE)
Academic
- Completed Year 2 or its equivalent in the student’s home county
Course Syllabus and Content
The course syllabus is structured based on the Singapore Curriculum for Primary English Syllabus (2020 Curriculum), and Singapore Curriculum for Primary Mathematics Syllabus (2021 Curriculum).
With course contents that are closely aligned to the latest examination guidelines, students will be equipped with the concrete knowledge and skills in tackling the examinations and obtain an internationally recognised academic achievement.
AEIS Preparatory Programme (Primary 3) – Primary 3 English
This Programme is aimed at improving the English Competency for all learners to prepare them to meet the requirements of the Primary 3 Curriculum under Singapore’s English Language Syllabus 2020 for Primary Level.
Through the course, the students will learn all essential listening, reading, speaking, writing and grammar skills needed to excel at Primary 3. This programme will also lay a strong foundation needed for them to improve their English for the higher levels.

AEIS Preparatory Programme (Primary 3) – Primary 3 Mathematics
This Programme is aimed at preparing students to take the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) at the Primary 2 level. Through the course, the students will be exposed to all essential skills, knowledge, and examination techniques to answer questions under Number and Algebra, Measure and Geometry, and Statistics.
