Course Overview
The IMSC Functional English Course (Level 0 – 8) is designed to help adult learners living in Singapore improve their conversational and functional English skills for daily communication in various contexts. Through interactive lessons and practical exercises, participants will develop confidence and fluency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing English in real-life situations.

| Levels | Description | Application | General Knowledge |

| 0 to 1 | At the end of this level, all learners should be able to pick up functional English communication skills that would enable one to use simple English in their daily life. This will also provide a strong foundation for them to improve their English proficiency. |

| 2 to 3 | At the end of this level, all learners would be taught how to use English in social settings. The programme will continue to build up the learner’s proficiency in English grammar, allowing one to improve one’s proficiency in English |

| 4 to 5 | At the end of this level, all learners will be taught how to use English to express one’s opinion in conversations, and in business settings. During the level, all learners will also be taught how to form their thoughts and opinions, and to start writing simple essays / documents / presentations to be used in business and professional settings. |

| 6 – 7 |
At the end of this level, all learners will be exposed to higher order english skills, such as delivering speeches, negotiations, and persuasive techniques. All learners will also be exposed to higher order thinking and writing techniques based on structuring arguments. |
Business communication:

| 8 | At this level, all learners will be introduced to the concept of making complex arguments, and to make complex presentations. Students will be taught how to write argumentative essays, reading and summarising complex english texts, and to comprehend complex English articles across multiple genres (descriptive writing, argumentative writing, expository writing) |

With my busy schedule, the arrangement for online lectures provided me with flexible time management. I still get freedom over my schedule which allows me to pursue sports, get educated and have adequate rest. I'm taking this Diploma as I believe that as a sportsman, it is critical to be educated with appropriate knowledge and skills. Currently, I have interest in being a coach or a sports marketer so it's essential to be trained for the correct area for my future.

The lecturers at IMSC are knowledgeable, and I was able to to apply what I have learnt in class such as Human Anatomy, Nutrition and Strength and Conditioning to my job as a Fitness Trainer. The Business & Retail Management Diploma taught me the sound fundamentals of running a business with its balanced modules.
