At IMSC, we make sure that all our lecturers, apart from having the requisite academic qualifications, also have relevant industry experience that they can share with the students. This will ensure that all our students receive the most relevant academic training and education that will best prepare them for the future economy.

John Chua
John graduated from the University of Lincoln with a master’s degree in Business Administration in 2003 and obtained a Masters of Arts in Mass Communication from Oklahoma City University in 1990. He has substantial experience in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCGs) and education. Instead of pursuing a career related to his field of study, he found an even greater passion for teaching. Since then, he has steadily amassed years of experience from different private education institutions (PEIs).
John has taught scores of students from China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Russia, and Vietnam and equipped them with the essential skills to advance both academically and professionally. He particularly enjoys the dynamic exchanges of cultures, ideas, and perspectives with his students. His lessons are delivered with fun, humor, and creativity and at the same time, he gets inspired by his students, from whom he has also learned a great deal.

Lim Guan Kiang
Guan Kiang graduated from the University of Western Sydney with a Masters of Commerce in Hospitality Management and is also an Adjunct Lecturer at Vatel Hotel & Tourism Business School, Singapore SDH Institute, which was voted the Worldwide Hospitality Awards’ Best Hospitality Management School.
Guan Kiang brings with him more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry spanning 4 continents. From being a Team Leader at the Sydney Olympics 2000, to managing front office operations for Marriott Hotels and Resorts in the United States; from organising world-class events in the United Arab Emirates, to helming properties in China under the Ascott Group; Guan Kiang has amassed a wealth of experience in virtually all aspects of the hospitality business including strategic planning, asset management, business development, strategic alliance negotiations, budgeting and revenue management, property opening and operations management.
In his most recent role as the Co-CEO of eStay, Guan Kiang led the growth of the China-based service residence management company, from a small struggling brand to more than 6,000 rooms in 50 properties and 1,000 employees in over 30 cities, and about $1.2 billion assets under management. Thereafter, he returned to Singapore to be closer to family, and to oversee the expansion of the listed company, Rowsley Limited’s hospitality business, setting up hotel and restaurant franchises in the Asia-Pacific region.

Farij Bin Samsudi
With a Masters of Science (Sports & Exercise Studies) from NTU, 10 years coaching experience as a Rugby coach as well as 5 years as a personal trainer has provided Farij with excellent knowledge and skills to design and deliver fitness programs to a wide variety of populations. He is also currently working as a Rugby Development Officer in the Singapore Rugby Union, overlooking schools in West area and manages the logistics for international events such as HSBC 7s 2016/2017 and international test matches.
Being a Rugby coach for the past 10 years and 4 years as a personal trainer has provided Farij with much experience with periodization training for people in various age groups. He ensures that his classes are engaging and communicates his understanding through various practical activities.

Humairah Hameed
Humairah was awarded a Master of Dietetics and Graduate Certificate of Human Nutrition from Deakin University (Melbourne, Australia) and earned her Bachelor of Science (Lifescience, Biomedical Science) from the National University of Singapore. She is a qualified dietitian and an Accredited Nutritionist of Singapore with the Singapore Nutrition and Dietetics Association (SNDA).
Humairah specialises in weight and chronic disease management and conducts various workshops, seminars and cooking demonstrations for the corporates, schools and community. She is currently involved in training educators and other school staff to help their students lead a healthy lifestyle under HPB.
She is very active in the community and has been featured on multiple occasions in the media e.g Channel NewsAsia, Suria, Warna 94.2FM and Berita Harian to share about various health issues including fasting during Ramadan with diabetes, diets for those with gout and osteoarthritis and most recently on S.O.S Sihat Oh Sihat, a medical and health themed infotainment talk show programme, on the effect of prebiotics and probiotics on gut health.
With her previous stint as an educator, Humairah relates well with her students and is able to cater her teaching to student of different abilities while consistently motivating them to achieve their fullest potential.

Jonathan Fong
Jonathan is a high performance coach and tech entrepreneur with about fifteen years’ experience as an elite endurance athlete and ten years’ experience working with athletes. Apart from obtaining a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from University of Southern California, Jonathan is qualified in Level 2 High Performance Coach (International Triathlon Union), Level 2 National Coaching Accredition (Sport Singapore), Level 2 Pilates Matwork (Polestar Pilates Asia) and Level 1 Anthropometrist (International Society of Kinanthropmerty). To add on to the many hats, he is also the head coach with Adidas Runners Singapore.
As the founder of Morph Performance, he uses technology and sports science to provide testing and online training solutions for endurance athletes worldwide. His specialty areas include, lactate threshold, fat metabolism, sweat analysis, exercise physiology, sports biomechanics, swimming, cycling, running, trail running, triathlon, corporate wellness and software design. His experience ranges from working with elite athletes, major endurance sport events and large corporations. He gains great satisfaction in working with individuals to help improve their performance, which demands devotion and technical expertise, and enjoys sharing his knowledge with our students in a fun an engaging manner.

Melvin Lim
Melvin lives and breathes sports! He started his first job at the Singapore Sports Council. He moved on to the Singapore Bowling Federation as the High Performance Manager, where he worked closely with the government, coaches, administrators, parents and athletes. He then moved on to education, where he was a lecturer at the School of Sports, Health and Leisure at Republic Polytechnic.
Melvin was an active sportsman in his youth. He played football in the national league, and represented his school for both football and rugby. Besides these two sports, he also plays golf, tennis, badminton, table tennis, wakeboarding and snowboarding.
He recently set up a sports marketing company, and is on a mission to raise awareness for the under-privileged in society. His vision is for all Singaporeans to embrace a sporting culture!

Mohamed Faizul Bin Abdul Wahid
Faizul has been in the sports industry for a very long time. With a degree in Sports and Exercise Science from Edith Cowan University in Australia, he has presented and published works in several journals, including the International Journal of Sports Science and Coaching, and the British Journal of Sport Medicine.
Faizul was once a competitive tennis player and coach. Over the course of his career, he managed several national players, elite athletes and school teams. He was a Sports Physiologist at the Singapore Sports Institute for 6 years and the lead consultant for Nike Singapore Level Up, offering nationwide football training programmes and assessments in 2008. His strength lies in his research skills, team management, and communication techniques. As such he is a highly qualified instructor and educator, providing excellent guidance and a fruitful learning experience.

Soh Zichun
Zichun is a Rugby coach under the National Registry of Coaches (NROC), a certified World Rugby Coach Educator and lecturer. He obtained a Master of Science (Sports & Exercise Studies) and have since developed many courses and content with Singapore Rugby Union. Playing the role of Rugby development manager, he managed youth and school development programs, of which designed and conducted “Get Into Rugby” (GIR) mass participation program for various MOE schools and MINDEF SAFSA. 2 years into the job, he was promoted and took on the role of the high-performance manager where he was responsible for the management and development of all high-performance players within SRU High Performance Rugby Program.
Zichun was able to dabble into establishing effective coaching and development for players and coaches leading up to Asian and SEA Games. Till date, he balances his roles as a lecturer and Rugby coach where he strongly believes in motivating athletes to maximise their potential through innovative approach to teaching.

David Lim
David started his career in the hospitality industry at a young age and has since accumulated extensive hospitality, tourism and management experience in both local and international hospitality arenas. Prior to teaching, David garnered over 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Having worked for large hotel chains such as Raffles Hotel, Renaissance Hotel Zurich, Ritz-Carlton, as well as working with reputable organisations, such as Club Med Asia Pacific and Singapore Grand Prix to manage the hospitality complex serving up to thousand guests.
With his wealth of experience, David is passionate in educating his students and aims to inspire his student’s interest in hospitality and tourism studies.

Pauline Chian
Pauline started her career with Singapore Airlines as a leading stewardess. Continuing unto the travel industry with local giants like SA Tours and Qantas’ subsidiary Holiday Tours and Travel, she made her mark in the corporate travel industry. Known for her assertive and can-do attitude, she reached the top of the corporate ladder by heading the local business units of Priceline Singapore (OTA) and Liquid Tours (Ski experience tour).
All these while she has been constantly grooming her high-performance staff in business ethics and service deliveries. What better way for students to learn first-hand from an industry veteran on what it is like to be in the tourism and hospitality industry.

Raymond Chan
Raymond possesses more than 20 years of regional sales and business development experience with top MNC’s such as Goodrich Aerostructures and Senior PLC in the aviation industry. Besides excelling in sales and managing various multi-cultural sales teams, he is passionate about training. He has conducted numerous training seminars in International companies like Rolls-Royce, Guangzhou, Lufthansa Technik in China and Philippines, Korean airlines, Cathay Pacific and Singapore airlines.
Being world-traveled, frequently transiting from airports, hotels, meetings, and exhibitions he has an intimate knowledge of the service deliveries of the hospitality industries around the world. His lessons are punctuated with numerous anecdotal stories for a vibrant classroom discussion.

Thilagavathy Velisamy
Thila joins us with more than 12 years of experience in the food and service industry, operating in various capacity as a restaurant manager, chef and entrepreneur, as well as more than 7 years of experience as a trainer in business, food and beverage, and travel and tourism. She holds a double degree in early childhood and business administration as well as a Masters in Counselling and has expertise in caregiving, and early childhood care and education.
