 Introduction 

The Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level Examination is a national level assessment jointly organised and conducted by the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) and the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicates. The O-Level certificate is an internationally recognised qualification that can be used to apply for tertiary education in the Commonwealth countries and in the United States of America. Local Junior Colleges, Polytechnics and Private Institutions also require prospective students to acquire the O-Level certificate for admission.

 Course Structure 

This programme is made up of 4 core modules (Units 1 to 4), and 1 elective module (any one unit between 5A and 5B). All students are required to take all 4 core modules, and choose from 1 of the 2 elective modules available in order to complete the programme.

Preparatory Course for Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level

Course Description

The IMSC’s Preparatory Course for Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O-Level) aims to thoroughly prepare private candidates (aged 15 years and above) for the national level assessments jointly organized and conducted by the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) and the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicates over 23 months.

 

Entry Requirements

Age:

Minimum 15 years old

 

English Language Proficiency:

  • IELTS 4.0, or equivalent; or
  • Pass IMSC’s English Placement Test (with a minimum score of 50%)

 

Academic:

  • Pass in Year 8 or equivalent in home country

 

Preparatory Course for Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level (Intensive)

Course Description

The IMSC’s Preparatory Course for Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O-Level) (Intensive) aims to prepare private candidates for the national level assessments jointly organized and conducted by the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) and the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicates over 11 months.

Age:

Minimum 16 years old

 

English Language Proficiency

  • IELTS 4.0, or equivalent; or
  • Pass IMSC’s English Placement Test (with a minimum score of 50%)

 

Academic:

  • Pass in Year 9 or equivalent in home country

The Preparatory Course for Admission to Government Schools (AEIS) courses are tailored to equip international students for entry into mainstream primary and secondary schools in Singapore. They will cover English and Mathematics to prepare students for the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) and the Supplementary AEIS (S-AEIS) examinations.

English for Primary  (2-5) Syllabus

This Programme is aimed at improving the English Competency for all learners to prepare them to meet the requirements of the Primary 2 Curriculum under Singapore’s English Language Syllabus 2020 for Primary Level.  Through the course, the students will learn all essential listening, reading, speaking, writing and grammar skills needed to excel at Primary 2.  This programme will also lay a strong foundation needed for them to improve their English for the higher levels.

Mathematics for Primary (2-5) Syllabus 

This Programme is aimed at preparing students to take the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) at the Primary 5 level. Through the course, the students will be exposed to all essential skills, knowledge, and examination techniques to answer questions under Number and Algebra, and Measure and Geometry.

Course Description

The objective of the IMSC Preparatory Course for Admission to Government Schools (Primary 2) is to prepare international students for admissions into the Singapore Government Primary schools.   This course will also offer advanced teaching that will prepare students to meet the requirements of the Primary 2 English Curriculum under Singapore’s English Language Syllabus 2020 for Primary Level.

Minimum 7 years old (At least 7 years old as of 1st January of the year of admission)

 

Language:

  • Pass year 1 English in the student’s home country, or
  • Obtain a score of 100 or more under the A2 Key for Schools under the Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) test run by Cambridge Assessment English (CAE)

 

Academic:

Completed Year 1 or its equivalent in the student’s home country

Course Description

The objective of the IMSC Preparatory Course for Admission to Government Schools (Primary 5) is to prepare international students for admissions into the Singapore Government Primary schools.   This course will also offer advanced teaching that will prepare students to meet the requirements of the Primary 5 English Curriculum under Singapore’s English Language Syllabus 2020 for Primary Level.

Entry Requirements

Age:

  • Minimum 10 years old (At least 10 years old as of 1st January of the year of admission)

 

Language:

  • Pass year 4 English in the student’s home country, or
  • Obtain a score of 140 or more under the B1 Preliminary for Schools under the Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) test run by Cambridge Assessment English (CAE); or
  • Obtain a score of 130 or more under the A2 Key for Schools under the Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) test run by Cambridge Assessment English (CAE).

 

Academic:

Completed Year 4 or its equivalent in the student’s home country
